Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball head coach Jennifer Reimer has announced the addition of Kelly Muffley to the program as the team’s assistant coach.
“Kelly has invaluable experience combined with strong work ethic that is instantly going to move our program forward,” said Reimer. “We are thrilled that she has joined our staff.”
Muffley comes to Case Western Reserve after spending the previous year as the assistant coach for both women’s basketball and tennis at her alma mater, Thiel College. While at Thiel, she helped coach and mentor the PAC’s leading scorer and rebounder, Jess Vormelker, who was an all-region third team selection and a Jostens Trophy finalist.
Muffley had previously served a graduate assistant coach at Canisius College, a Division I program. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant with the women’s basketball program at St. Lawrence University from 2015-17.
As a player, Muffley was a four-year starter for Thiel, earning All-PAC recognition twice, including a first-team honor as a senior in 2012-13. During the campaign, she finished second among all Division III players with a 92.3% mark from the free throw line, while ranking second in the conference with 2.8 three pointers made per game. She ended her career fifth in the program’s history with 1,238 points.
Muffley received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Thiel in 2013, before going on to earn her master’s in education from St. Lawrence University in 2017.
