Providence College women’s basketball Head Coach Jim Crowley announced today [July 1] that Kelcie Rombach and Jalisa Mitchell have joined his staff. Rombach will serve as Assistant Coach, while Mitchell takes over as the Associate Director of Player Development.
Rombach, who spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Dartmouth (2018-21), will begin her second stint as a member of Crowley’s staff. She previously served as the Friars’ Associate Director of Player Development from 2016-18, before taking her first assistant coaching position with the Big Green. Rombach has long-standing ties to Crowley, having played four seasons for him as a student-athlete at St. Bonaventure. She earned her undergraduate degree in English in 2015, after just three years, and finished her playing career as a graduate student during the 2015-16 campaign. During that time, she earned a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA).
Rombach played 96 games and helped Bonnies advance to the second round of the WNIT in 2014 and the NCAA Tournament Second Round in her final season (2016).
The Ottawa, Ill. native, played scholastically at Ottawa Township High School, where she scored more than 1,200 points. She guided her team to three regional championships and was an IBCA 3A/4A All-State selection in 2011 and 2012.
Mitchell spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Moberly Area Community College in Missouri. During her tenue, she helped guide the Greyhounds to a 59-24 overall record and a 27-10 mark in the region. Mitchell saw her teams capture the Regional XVI Regular-Season Championship, MCCAC Conference Championship, District K Championship in 2019-20, en route to a NJCAA National Tournament Berth. She capped off the 2020-21 season on the sidelines by earning WBCA Assistant Coach of the Year honors. In 2018, she was selected to participate in the prestigious WBCA “So You Want To Be A Coach” program
Mitchell graduated from Harris Stowe State University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. While at Harris Stowe, she was inducted into the National Society of Leadership. She played two years for the Hornets and helped lead the squad to a 19-13 record in her final season, marking the most wins for the program since 2007.
Prior to graduating from Harris Stowe, Mitchell attended and played basketball at John Wood Community College (2012-13) and Saint Louis Community College (2013-14).
Originally from St. Louis, Mo., Mitchell attended Lutheran High School North, where she earned First Team All-Conference Honorable Mention and Second Team All-Metro League.
