Elisa Jurmu has been promoted to Assistant Head Coach with the Michigan Tech women’s basketball team, Head Coach Sam Clayton announced on Wednesday (August 3).
Jurmu served as Assistant Coach for each of the past four seasons. Over that period, the Huskies posted a 70-39 overall record (.642), including two GLIAC North Division regular season championships, two conference tournament semifinal appearances, and one GLIAC tournament championship (2020-21).
“Elisa is an amazing coach and mentor for our student-athletes,” said Head Coach Sam Clayton. “Her exemplary character and ethics make her a great role model. She has built strong relationships with each of our players, which has paid dividends in our pursuit of excellence on and off the floor.
“Elisa is involved with nearly every aspect of our program and is fully responsible for our scout team in practice. I know our team wouldn’t be the same without her and I wouldn’t be the coach I am without her either. I am so grateful for all that she has done and continues to do for our staff and team. This promotion is very well-deserved and just the beginning for her.”
Last season, Jurmu helped the Huskies to an 18-11 record. During her career as a Michigan Tech student-athlete, she appeared in 57 games over four seasons and spearheaded the Huskies to three GLIAC Division Championships and two NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances.
