Jordan Ballard selected to assist Maryville College women’s basketball program

Maryville College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Darrin Travillian has announced that Jordan Ballard has been hired to assist his program for the 2017-18 season.

Ballard, a Seymour, Tennessee native, earned a degree from Maryville College in 2016 with focus on sociology. She excelled as a point-guard on the court helping the Scots to a 98-20 (83%) overall record over four seasons while going 58-7 in all USA South Athletic Conference challenges. Jordan’s squads tallied four consecutive USA South regular season titles while earning four consecutive appearances in the NCAA post-season tournament.

“I am thrilled to bring Jordan back home,” stated Maryville College Head Coach Darrin Travillian.  “Her competitive fire was contagious as a player, and I know she will infuse that into our team.  Bringing the point guard of the winningest team and senior class in our program’s history back to our bench is an exciting prospect for me and all of our players.  Her passion, loyalty, and will to win are attributes that we hope our entire roster will embrace.  Anyone who watched her take nine charges in our conference tournament can appreciate how much this program means to her.  I am excited to see her work with our current players and to watch her talk about this school and program with recruits.”

On the hardcourt, Ballard played in 102 career games directing the offense. Her team-first mentality is displayed in her career numbers. She dished out 300 career assists and finished with a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio. Her defensive intensity culminated with 226 steals while crashing the boards with 310 career rebounds. Jordan earned USA South Conference All-Tournament honors following her sophomore and senior seasons in the orange and garnet.
