The Bryan College Athletic Department names Gabe Johnson Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach. He will continue his Associate position with Men’s Basketball while now taking over the Women’s Basketball program.

He is the Director of the Warrior Culture Basketball Organization, manages marketing and financial operations, recruits coaches and players, and oversees program implementations for eight teams. Coach Johnson also works with middle school programs to aid program development. He is the Assistant Boys and Girls Basketball coach at Boyd Buchanan School where under his leadership both teams advanced to the TSSAA State Tournament in 2020 and 2021. 

Athletic Director, Jenny Swafford says, “Coach Johnson is a Bryan Alum and is stepping into his second year on the Bryan Athletics staff. He will continue his role with Men’s Basketball, and we are anticipating the organic opportunities of unity this will provide for our two basketball programs. With nearly 20 years of experience, Coach Johnson is incredibly gifted in the knowledge of the game and his ability to connect with students. He works to individually motivate and develop student-athletes to maximize their potential on and off the court. Our Women’s basketball team is eager to get to work in preparation for the upcoming season and we are ready to see how far they excel under Coach Johnson’s leadership!”
