Description:

This is a graduate assistant (GA) position for the NCAA Division I Seton Hall University Women’s Basketball Team. This is a flexible and dynamic position that has a variety of different responsibilities, including creative, administrative, and operational. Applicants should have a design, photo, video, media or related background. Prior basketball knowledge or background neither preferred nor required. Projected start August 2021.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Working with the other GA on creative projects such as: social media posts, graphics, photography, videography, photo and video editing, and mailings. Previous experience not required, a willingness to learn is vital.
  • Oversight of ~10 undergraduate managers. Scheduling and communication with this group as well as supervision, evaluation, and leadership.
  • Ordering of large, catering-style meals for the program, ~35 people.
  • Phone calls, scanning, emailing, faxing, printing, and shipping.
  • Oversight of a traditional office space.
  • Oversight of basketball equipment and gear.
  • Oversight when packing to travel.
  • Traveling with the team as needed.
  • Extensive communication with the other offices around the Richie Regan Recreation and Athletic Center, i.e. Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, Volleyball Team, Athletic Directors.
  • Other various tasks requested by coaches.

Requirements & Expectations

  • Admission to a Seton Hall University Graduate Program.
  • Non-traditional hours, 5-6 days per week, mornings, nights, some weekends.
  • “Can-do”, self-motivated mentality, creativity, a willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility under pressure, extensive problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Preferred skills: DSLR or mirrorless camera, video camera, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, MacOS and PC knowledge, copy machines.

Benefits

The GA position will receive full tuition coverage for the two-year duration of their Master’s program, contingent on maintaining good standing academically and within the Women’s Basketball program. GAs also receive a meal per diem on game days. Housing to be determined.
