Position: NCAA Women’s Basketball Data Analyst (Full Time)
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid office/work from home)
Approximate Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000
Summary
Big League Advantage is seeking a Women’s Basketball Data Analyst to help us add value to our NCAAW basketball clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage data analysis to provide actionable insights, support decision-making, and enhance team and player performance within the NCAAW collegiate basketball landscape. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports analytics, specifically basketball, well-rounded basketball specific knowledge, and previous experience with statistical data analysis. Key Responsibilities
- Communicate insights accurately and effectively with coaching staffs • Create scouting reports and potential strategy advice for upcoming opponents using internal tools, analytical insights, and film analysis
- Film analysis of upcoming opponents, client teams, and prospects (high school and transfer portal) to provide subjective evaluations supporting internal analytics • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across several data sources
- Answer ad-hoc questions regarding specific requests from clients such as lineup optimizations, transfer targeting, schedule optimization, and game strategy • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify data-driven insights to coaching staffs and decision-makers to inform tactical, strategic, and recruitment decisions • Stay up to date with client, sport, and analytical trends to inform coaching staffs
Qualifications
- Understanding of basketball rules and metrics (e.g. kenpom adjusted efficiency, Quadrant wins, NET rankings, NIL rules, etc)
- Experience with python (pandas, numpy) and SQL or a willingness to learn necessary coding skills
- Experience generating data visualizations programmatically (preferably python) • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex data concepts to non technical audiences
- Strong self-motivation and curiosity to challenge traditional basketball beliefs • Attention to detail for accurate and timely report delivery
- (Preferred) Experience playing or working with college basketball teams • (Preferred) Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science or a related field
