The Head Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for the overall administration and success of the Women’s Basketball program. The primary purpose is to recruit student-athletes, schedule opponents, organize conditioning, plan practices, develop strategies for skill enhancement, develop and manage the team budget, participate in community relations and fund-raising activities, monitor student-athlete academic progress, administer camps and clinics and administer team rules and regulations for the Women’s Basketball program.

Administration – Motivate, teach and organize practice sessions to promote top performance; provide time management and life skills lessons to student-athletes; build strong relationships with student-athletes; and administer orientation sessions on University and team rules, policies and procedures.

Recruiting – This function serves as the primary means to establish a competitive team. The coach needs to be knowledgeable of all Big South Conference, NCAA rules and regulations and the requirements for admission to our institution. The coach is expected to recruit student-athletes of good character, academically prepared and of a quality skill level needed to be competitive.

Budget Control – This involves monitoring and planning the use of the Women’s Basketball budget. Phones, recruiting, team travel, awards, equipment, printing, postage, maintenance, officials, membership dues should be considered when planning a budget.

Additional Responsibilities – Community relations, fund-raising, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Team Travel – This involves coordination of scheduling contests, making arrangements for transportation, meals and lodging for the travel party.

Bachelor’s degree and two years of collegiate basketball coaching experience required. Required knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Valid driver’s license, good driving record and successful background check are required.
