The University of Maine Augusta is seeking applicants for the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach.  Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for the women’s basketball program to include the primary responsibilities as follows:

  • Coaching and supervising of practice and games
  • Recruitment of student athletes and recommending candidates for scholarships
  • Transporting players and staff to and from games
  • Actively monitoring the academic progress of student athletes and supporting them in their academic success
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and departmental and university policies
  • Maintaining flexibility in a work schedule that may include days, evening, and weekends as needed to support the women’s basketball program

The successful candidate will be able to recruit student athletes, provide instruction and make it a positive educational experience. This is a part-time, temporary position from August to May of each year.  Continuation is based upon university needs and funding.

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday (afternoons), evenings, and weekends as necessary.

Salary:  This part-time position is paid a salary of $7,500/yr.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ability to recruit student athletes
  • Ability to organize and supervise students
  • Ability to teach basketball and make it a positive educational experience
  • Demonstrated basketball coaching experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to be approved to operate a university vehicle and transport others

Preferred:

  • Experience coaching at the university level
  • Experience guiding the personal growth and development of student-athletes.
  • Experience fostering the academic development of student-athletes
