Located five miles from downtown Boston, Tufts University is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the highly-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Tufts students participate in 30 varsity sports, 20 club sports and a number of intramural sports. Tufts Athletics has won ten NCAA team championships since 2010 and has finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup in each of the last eight years, including a program-best 3rd place finish in 2016-17. Tufts Athletics oversees the Physical Education Department and manages all athletics facilities, including the Steve Tisch Sports & Fitness Center that opened in 2012. The Department of Athletics provides student-athletes a dynamic, transformational experience on and off the field. They experience the joy of personal growth inherent in high level competition, while cultivating lifelong connections with teammates, the Tufts community and the world around us.

The Tufts Women’s Basketball program has established a tradition of excellence and a history of success both nationally and in the NESCAC. Recent program milestones include a streak of six-straight NCAA Elite Eight appearances, including four consecutive trips to the Final Four (2014-17) and two national championship games (2016 and 2017). The Jumbos won NESCAC titles in 2014, 2015 and 2019 and have made a total of 11 NCAA appearances.

The head coach for women’s basketball is responsible for effectively operating all aspects of an NCAA Division III women’s basketball program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting successful high school athletes, leading and managing the student-athletes and assistant coaches, organizing and running practices, maintaining a cultural atmosphere for student-athletes which supports the Tufts mission, building a competitive schedule, operating the program within budgetary limits, managing administrative tasks effectively, and actively engaging in program and department fund-raising activities.
