Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development, management, and successful coaching of the TAMIU women’s basketball team, to include scheduling, recruiting, equipment management, reporting scores and statistics, and website updating.
- Manage and operate within the budget parameters, without exception, and submit all receipts and budget reports on time as directed by the Director of Athletics.
- Ensure strict adherence to all NCAA by-laws and Lone Star Conference regulations.
- Ensure adherence with established institutional compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior.
- Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletes.
- Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.
- Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes that includes providing education about and methods for discussing and resolving harassment or discrimination.
- Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all athletics staff members and student-athletes through a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, respect for the competencies of others and appropriate conflict resolution behavior.
- Responsible for successful coaching of the TAMIU women’s basketball team, to include maximizing the team’s potential/abilities, keeping athletes eligible, and retaining athletes through graduation.
- Supervise and mentor coaching assistants as directed and approved by the Director of Athletics.
- Assist to propagate a comprehensive public relations program.
- Manage the operations of sports camps and/or clinics.
- Manage all department fund-raising and booster events in accordance with NCAA, Heartland Conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.
- Learn, understand, and adhere to all NCAA guidelines and maintain up-to-date roster, squad lists, and other information using the Compliance Assistant Internet (CAI) program.
- Coordinate and develop organized schedules and submit weekly countable hour reports according to NCAA policy.
- Participate in long-range planning and assessment, attend all departmental training sessions and meetings, and read and comply with all departmental policy manuals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Should teach a minimum of three (3) courses per academic year.
