Description:
The Head Women’s Basketball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics / Assistant Dean for Student Services. This position is responsible for the organization and administration of the softball program. The successful candidate will develop effective and positive communication with the students, faculty, alumni, and community. This position is responsible for coaching, recruiting, team travel, fund raising, and all other areas of softball operations (benchmark expectations will be identified). The selected individual must comply with University, NJCAA Division II, Conference and Departmental rules, standards, and regulations, and must work cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel. This person is responsible for operating within the budgetary limitations of the program, must support the student-athlete concept, and must demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. This position will take an active leadership role in fundraising and public relations activities for the softball program and also the Athletics Department as a whole. The coach must be committed to excellence SUNY Ulster.  The Head Basketball Coach may be assigned additional duties in support of the department’s mission and goals.

 

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Current knowledge of NJCAA regulations.
  • Proven successful recruiting experience at a collegiate level.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years coaching experience.
  • Evidence of a commitment to academic excellence including athlete graduation.
  • Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public.
  • Capable and willing to actively plan and participate in fundraising, promotions, and other similar endeavors as they relate to the golf program and the entire Athletics Department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated recruiting ability.
  • College coaching experience preferred.
