The Richard Bland College of William & Mary is currently seeking a highly motivated Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the first ever Women’s Basketball program for the 2022-2023 academic year. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and in conjunction with the AD is responsible for all phases of the women’s basketball program in accordance to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and philosophies. Primary duties include recruiting and assisting with the education and development of the student athlete. This includes instruction on how to perform their sport, balance academic and athletic commitments, and maintaining their health, working as a team both in their sport and as part of the school. Richard Bland College is a member of the NJCAA and a member of Region 10. The incumbent will performs additional responsibilities of a faculty or staff member at the college as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license.
• An undergraduate degree in Sports Management or a relevant discipline from an accredited institution.
• Prior coaching experience (High School, Club or College) or collegiate playing experience as a collegiate athlete.
• Considerable amount of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing exceptional student-athletes and fostering the positive growth of players in all aspects of their athletic and academic lives.
• Knowledgeable of the development and management of a team budget.
• Knowledgeable of coordinating team travel and required documentation to follow the college policies and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff and students.
• Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision and the goals of the RBC strategic plan.

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable amount of experience playing or coaching at the collegiate athlete.
• Demonstrated record of coaching excellence, service, and leadership .
• Experience and background working within a collegiate recreation and/or athletic department.
• Experience with the management of students and complex student schedules.
• Working knowledge and understanding of NJCAA policies and procedures.
