Quincy College is seeking to appoint the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach with the desire to begin competition in the fall of 2018. Reporting to the Athletic Director the head coach will be responsible for the overall development and advancement of a competitive Division 3 program. The head coach will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of the women’s basketball program, including: coaching the team, planning, organizing, and supervising team practices; actively identifying, evaluating, and recruiting student athletes; and working within NJCAA, Region 21, and departmental guidelines. The head coach will be called upon to supervise and coordinate the work of assistant coaches, and attend College Functions, Open Houses, College Fairs, and other college events as designated by the Athletic Director. The Head Coach will demonstrate a strong commitment to the academic progress of student athletes with the monitoring of academic study hall with participation of all team members. The coach will represent the college with the utmost integrity.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for executing the organization, administration, and coaching of the women’s basketball program, including; practice plans, game management for in and post season workouts
• Develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting and retention of student athlete program
• Organize and teach individual skill instruction for players
• Hire and supervise assistant coaches
• Create an appropriate academic culture for team members and provide adequate academic monitoring, support, and counseling for student athletes.
• Possess cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population.
• Exhibit a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving.
• Ensure that the policies, procedures, and regulations of organizations to which the college belongs to, including the NJCAA and Region 21, are adhered to. The head coach shall also assume responsibility for maintaining a working knowledge of pertinent standards established by these organizations.
• Demonstrate professional demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration, and represent the College in the public image.
• Attend; Open Houses, and any pertinent College events as designated by the Athletic Director.
• Participate in mandatory training/coursework, including but not limited to:
• Title IX and Sexual Misconduct
• Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination
• Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting
• Municipal Ethics Law
• Assume other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assistant coaches and student athletes

TRAVEL:  Occasional travel between the Quincy and Plymouth campuses as well as travel to various college sporting events and activities required.

Requirements:

Educational Criteria: High School diploma required, Associates Degree or higher preferred.

Qualifications:

• Prior playing/coaching/recruiting experience at the collegiate level
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and solid planning of strategies with the sport
• A clear understanding of the compliance regulations of NJCAA rules of eligibility of student athletes
