Description:

Northeastern State University seeks a Head Women’s Basketball Coach. NSU competes in a premier athletics conference (MIAA) in one of the finest Division II facilities in the nation. This $18M facility opened in November 2013 and is home to RiverHawks basketball. The women’s program has enjoyed seven NCAA tournament appearances which include two Sweet 16 runs since 2003. The men’s program has experienced five NCAA tournament appearances since 2000 including the 2003 Division II National Championship. This is a full-time position which requires the organization and supervision of all aspects of an intercollegiate women’s basketball program, including: comprehensive and visionary plan for the program; recruitment and retention of highly qualified student­ athletes with a commitment to academic and athletics excellence; relates well with student-athletes; works well with fellow coaches, support staff, administrators and campus community; proven game planner; effective practice planner; emphasizes strength and conditioning; sound budget manager; effective public speaking skills; professional with electronic and print media; committed to fundraising ; community and alumni engagement ; positive ambassador ; adheres to university branding standards; effective and appropriate use of social media; directs camps and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. In addition, the head coach will be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and mission of the university and its intercollegiate athletics program as well as commitment to and adherence of departmental, university, MIAA and NCAA compliance, policies and procedures. Further, the Head Coach will supervise and evaluate an assistant coach with teaching responsibilities and participate in various departmental meetings. A graduate assistant also reports to the head coach.

In addition to duties within the Department of Athletics, some teaching in Health and Kinesiology (HPK) may be required.

A minimum of seven (7) years of full-time coaching experience is preferred. Graduate Assistant experience may be considered.
A minimum of five (5) years of full-time collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA I or NCAA II level is preferred.

Experience as a head coach or assistant with on-the-floor responsibilities is preferred.

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes
