Description:

Mineral Area College seeks a Head Coach of the Mineral Area Women’s Basketball program. The Head Coach will supervise all sport operations.  Recruit and retain college student athletes, support student athletes through degree or program completion. Organize and oversee all public relations in the community related to the men’s basketball program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree required.  Master’s preferred.

Four years of directly related work experience in athletics required including program management, supervision, budget development and revenue accountability.

Prior college coaching and playing experience preferred.

  4. Managing expenses within budget
  5. Promoting positive team public relations

 

Essential Functions

 

  1. Maintain compliance with all NJCAA regulations.

 

  1. Organize and oversee public relations in the community.

 

  1. Supervise the entire sport operation; recruiting, practice schedules, game schedules, and travel plans.

 

  1. Responsible for student-athletes’ advising and graduation progress.

 

  1. Responsible for fundraising.

 

  1. Oversee discipline on the court/field, in the community, and in student housing.

 

  1. Oversee academic success and room checks

 

  1. Responsible for running camps to offset the cost of program

 

  1. Minimum of one walk on try-out per year

 

  1. Must have a minimum 1 student athlete from a MAC taxing district school

 

  1. Maintain athletic viability with at least 25% of the program’s expenses being covered through the adjustment of scholarships, walk-ons, and/or fundraising. An evaluation will take place, at minimum, annually.

 

  1. Require all student athletes on scholarship to live on-campus, regardless of the student’s taxing district. Non-scholarship athletes can live off campus if they are within the taxing district.
  1. Perform other athletic duties as assigned.
