Description:

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) invites applications for the Head Women’s Basketball Coach position for Athletics. This position will manage a competitive NCAA Division I women’s basketball program for IPFW, and will:

Team Supervision:

  • Recruit quality players and establish tryouts for team selection
  • Determine practice schedule and content
  • Submit squad list for eligibility check
  • Monitor academic progress of team members
  • Establish team rules, behavior guidelines and expectations
  • Recommend athletic financial aid awards and letter award recipients

Schedule Contests:

  • Recommend appropriate opponents
  • Recommend desirable dates and times
  • Recommend source for officials and other game personnel
  • Recommend travel arrangements (vehicles, meals, lodging)

Coordinate Equipment and Supplies:

  • Determine supply and gear needs
  • Recommend uniform replacement needs
  • Monitor equipment and gear security

Serve as Instructor for HPER classes for the School of Education:

  • Teach one HPER class a year
  • Recommend appropriate course material to be covered
  • Select appropriate text materials when needed
  • Prepare and present lessons and curriculum
  • Administer proper testing and assign grades

Other Duties:

  • Serve as an assistant to the Director of Athletics at public relations functions on campus and in community
  • Conduct development activities under the direction of the Director of Athletics and office of advancement which provide financial resources
  • Assume temporary administrative roles as required by department
  • Participate in departmental meetings as scheduled
  • Propose suggestions and assist in evaluation and formulation of departmental policies
  • Create positive publications for athletic programs and total campus
  • Hire and supervise assistant coach(s)
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a budget for the women’s basketball program

Policies and Procedures:

  • Be familiar with and demonstrate the ability to understand all NCAA bylaws, Summit League regulations, and IPFW academic policies and procedures
  • Develop, implement and communicate departmental policies and procedures that reflect said rules
  • Subject to NCAA Bylaw 11.2.1, violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations
  • Subject to NCAA Bylaw 11.2.2, a written detailed account annually to the Chancellor for all athletically related income and benefits from sources outside the institution is required. All such requests must be approved by the Chancellor.
