DSU is looking to hire a Head Coach for Women’s Basketball. The Head Coach is responsible for a highly competitive women’s basketball program and assisting with the sport information department which compete in the Frontier Conference and NAIA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: knowing and abiding by all University, NAIA and Frontier Conference rules and regulations; coaching, recruiting, monitoring student-athletes academic progress, budgeting and scheduling, organization and implementation of practice and contest plans. This position will also provide service to the university depending upon skills, experience, and needs.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • College basketball coaching experience
  • Software skills in MS Office Suite, MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of software utilized by Play NAIA and Synergy Video.
  • NAIA varsity and junior varsity college recruiting experience.
  • Detailed orientated, conscientious
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations
  • Ability to present professional demeanor at all times

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or higher

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Head Coach, Women’s Basketball
    • Responsible for administering and overseeing all aspects of the women’s basketball program.
    • Administer effective in-game coaching and managing techniques.
    • Organize and implement practice plans and instruction.
    • Provide player development.
    • Schedule games and practices.
    • Provide travel supervision.
    • Provide budget management.
    • Monitor student athletes’ academic progress.
    • Media Relations.
    • Other Duties as assigned within basketball program
  • Recruiting of women’s basketball student athletes
    • Recruit and retain student athletes for varsity and junior varsity women’s basketball
    • Travel through region to recruit
    • Coordinate on-campus recruiting visits
  • Game Day/Event manager or other service to the university depending upon skills, experience and need
    • Be responsible for overseeing other game day events in the fall at the BAC when not coaching basketball. Help at Sanford Sports Complex or Scott Gym on game day in off season.
    • Coordinate GA’s and work study to assign and administer game day.
    • Do game day social media releases as needed.

 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

  • Salary range of $70,000-72,000/contract, commensurate with qualifications and experience
