Description:

The Athletic Department at Dean College has an opening for a Head Coach of Women’s Basketball and Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success. This is a full-time, 9-month position.

The Head Coach for Women’s Basketball is responsible for all aspects of the basketball program, such as teaching skill techniques, recruiting, budget management, and scheduling of opponents.

The Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success will provide proactive academic support for all Dean College Student Athletes.

Head Women’s Basketball Coach Essential Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

  • Recruit student-athletes that align with the mission of the College;
  • Instruct the women’s basketball team members on both offensive and defensive tactics and strategies;
  • Provide oversight of staff and team members as it relates to following all GNAC, NCAA and Dean College policies and regulations;
  • Organize and schedule all team practice sessions;
  • Promote, monitor and facilitate student-athlete academic success;
  • Schedule home and away contests with the approval of the Director of Athletics;
  • Perform administrative tasks such as budget management, reconciliation of travel expenses, and the ordering of supplies and equipment for the women’s basketball program;
  • Represent Dean College and the women’s basketball program in a professional manner;
  • Must have planning, organizational, administrative, and time management skills;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Director of Student Athlete Academic Success

Essential Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

  • Serve as the liaison with the Robbins Center for Advising and Career Planning and the Morton Family Learning Center to provide academic support for the student-athlete population;
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress during each round of academic monitoring;
  • Meet with student-athletes to develop effective academic plans;
  • Design and implement weekly academic plans for student-athletes identified as being at academic risk through monitoring.;
  • Develop success plans for ineligible student athletes.;
  • Coordinate and monitor Athletic Study Labs in collaboration with the Morton Family Learning Center;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required;
  2. Master’s degree preferred;
  3. COVID-19 Vaccination required:
  4. 2-3 years in coaching at the collegiate level;
  5. Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations;
  6. Valid driver’s license in good standing required;
  7. Excellent oral and written skills and the ability to communicate with students, colleagues, and external constituents;
  8. Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
