Job Summary

The Women’s Head Basketball Coach at Colorado Christian University (CCU) is responsible for the overall administration, team and player development, and academic integrity of the Women’s Basketball program. The coach will give primary attention to partnering with the CCU student-athletes in their efforts to gain a Christ-centered education and positively represent the University through a competitive NCAA Division II Athletic program. The Women’s Head Basketball Coach must understand the dynamics of a small university setting and have the ability to take on several tasks outside the coaching arena toward the success for the Athletic Department as a whole.
Duties and Responsibilities

1. A vibrant personal relationship with Christ and the ability to share your faith in various settings.
2. Fulfill the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the CCU Department of Athletics as it pertains to the Women’s Basketball Program.
3. Supervise and evaluate all assistant coaches to the standards set forth for each employee of the CCU athletics department.
4. Recruit quality Christian student-athletes.
5. Develop and supervise practices, game planning, schedule arrangements, as well as a strong off season training and conditioning program.
6. Manage budget.
7. Fundraising and additional administrative duties.
8. Maintain high academic standards for student-athletes and focus on retaining students in program and at CCU.
9. Interact with other University departments.
10. Meet NCAA compliance regulations and pass NCAA Recruiting Test.
11. CPR & First Aid certification.
12. Exhibit a department-first before program attitude.
13. Be involved with community development, public relations, promotion of competitions, camp development, missions trips and outreach.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Five years of college head coaching experience at a NAIA or NCAA University.
2. Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
3. Experience in a similar private Christian institution desirable.
4. Strong discipleship/Christian mentorship skill required and the ability to evangelize through the context of athletics.
5. Disciplinary skills required as well as ability to develop healthy departmental and player relationships.
6. Strong player/student recruiting experience.
7. Successful and competitive track record with a well-rounded knowledge of coaching and the ability to successfully lead a program to perform at the NCAA Division II level. Able to motivate and develop a ‘winning attitude” among players and staff.
8. Strong discipline skills and consistency with communication & structure required.
9. Good driving record – ability to drive university mini-vans and obtain a CDL through athletics department to drive university vehicles.

1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming ‘born again’ thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
2. Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
3. Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Objectives promulgated by the University.
