Claflin University is seeking a Head Women’s Basketball Coach.  This full-time 12-month position will report to the Director of Athletics and be responsible for all aspects of the CIAA and NCAA Division II Intercollegiate athletics programs including recruiting, game preparation, administrative duties, and budget management, scheduling, and booking travel arrangements.  This position also requires equipment procurement and maintenance, promoting, making grant-in-aid recommendations, monitoring the academic progress of athletes, and adherence to institutional, NCAA, and CIAA conference rules and regulations by his/her staff and student-athletes.  The Head Women’s Basketball Coach will be responsible for recommending and supervising assistant coaches, assisting with academic enhancement and performing any other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics within the scope of this position.

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field; Master’s degree is preferred.   The candidate must be knowledgeable of CIAA and NCAA Division II educational rules and regulations, and principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training and fiscal management.  The candidate must possess the ability to communicate effectively; plan, organize, provide leadership and direction; explain rules, guidelines and regulations; and complete required reports, forms and other documents.  Previous head coaching experience at the NCAA Division II or Division I collegiate level is preferred or extensive experience as an assistant head coach or assistant coach is required.
