Has responsibility for all aspects of the Central Arizona College NJCAA Division I Athletics program including: recruiting and supervision of student athletes; coordinating and supervising practices; coordinating and facilitating fundraising activities; overseeing travel, budget and the overall daily operations of the sports program; and serving as Athletics Specialist for Athletics Division.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works within the Central Arizona College Athletics Department to develop and maintain a successful athletics program.
- Coaches assigned sports team/program.
- Monitors and administers the budget for the specific sport including fundraising efforts.
- Coordinates the recruitment, enrollment and educational effort of the student athletes on the team; monitors and reports student athlete academic, athletic and social progress.
- Works cooperatively with campus representatives outside the Sports and Fitness Division and Athletics Department to develop and sustain positive experiences academically and socially for student athletes.
- Provides oversight to related travel.
- Works cooperatively with the Athletics Director to perform other duties as assigned and supervises assigned staff.
- Handles responsibility for both teaching theory and varsity courses for related sports including the teaching of courses outside these that could be used for completion of duties or as separate outside adjunct work to which a full load is already committed.
- Conducts community outreach activities.
- Oversees related maintenance.
- Performs related paperwork; maintains assigned web pages.
- Performs other duties commensurate with functions and level of position or as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of related experience.
SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS: CPR/First Aid/AED certification desired.
Background Verification: As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part- time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification. Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification. The level the background verification for this position is: Standard level.

- Knowledge of sport specific coaching, specifically at the collegiate level.

- Ability to estimate materials, equipment, land and labor costs.
- Ability to apply a variety of fundraising techniques and strategies.
- Ability to design, implement, and sustain athlete recruitment initiatives and restrictions.
- Ability to analyze situations, develop solutions, and make independent decisions based on established guidelines.
- Ability to apply NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with College staff, faculty, administrators, and outside contractors.
