Calvin College invites applications for a Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

The Head Coach is responsible for directing the women’s basketball program with an understanding and commitment to the mission of Calvin College.  This position will also contribute to the Kinesiology department in a secondary role.

Head coaching responsibilities include:

• Supporting and encouraging spiritual growth of student-athletes in keeping with the mission of Calvin College
• Practice planning and leadership, game preparation and execution, student-athlete evaluation, and team development
• Managing the coaching staff and budget
• Coordinating team travel, on and off campus recruiting, and daily operations of the program.
• Adhering to Calvin College, NCAA, and MIAA policies and procedures

SECONDARY ROLE:  Assume and successfully perform a secondary role in the Kinesiology Department. The role will be assigned based on qualifications and department needs. The role will constitute approximately one third of person’s overall work.  The role is not limited to but may include the following:

• Teaching college courses in the Kinesiology Department
• Managing equipment and/or facilities for the Kinesiology Department
• Supervising athletic events
• Coordinating with other college divisions
• Administrating intramural or other department program
• Other duties as assigned

Required Experience

• A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) from an accredited college or university
• At least three years of successful high level basketball coaching experience, preferably at the college level.
• Previous experience recruiting student-athletes within the philosophy, rules and guidelines of MIAA, and the NCAA.
• Experience counseling and mentoring student-athletes in athletic, academic, and personal development.
• Ability to recruit and develop student athletes that contribute so a successful basketball program.
