The Head Coach of Women’s Basketball reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all aspects of managing a Division III women’s basketball program and as a member of the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Head Coach must understand and promote the mission, goals, values and educational ideals of Brandeis University, as well as the mission of the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation. The Head Coach is responsible for abiding by all conference, NCAA and department regulations and policies and for developing an inclusive program in which students learn, play and compete.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manages the student-athlete recruitment efforts for the women’s basketball program including traveling to high school and club games and tournaments, evaluating prospective players, and generating applications to the University. Responsible for annually recruiting a diverse incoming class of women’s basketball student-athletes that contribute to the continuing success of the team and the university community at large. Estimated time spent: 25%
• Directs the daily training and practice schedule to prepare student-athletes to compete in the sport of women’s basketball. Responsible for planning all in-season practice sessions and developing an off-season training schedule and program (in coordination with Strength and Conditioning staff). Directs all in-game coaching during home and away contests. Estimated time spent: 20%
• Provides appropriate and necessary guidance and advice to women’s basketball student-athletes. Be familiar with the support services available at Brandeis University that can be utilized to assist students. Actively support the academic integrity of the University, keeping academics at the highest priority for the student-athlete. Communicate with the sports performance (athletic training/strength and conditioning) staff regarding student-athlete well-being. Estimated time spent: 15%
• Recruits, mentors and supervises a diverse staff of assistant coaches. Estimated time spent: 10%
• Coordinates practice times and team travel details with the department’s administrative staff. Propose, manage and monitor annual operating budget. Estimated time spent: 10%
• Participates in external relations activities on the sport, department and university levels. Plays an active role with the Alumni Association, Institutional Advancement and Friends of Brandeis Athletics for fundraising purposes. Estimated time spent: 10%
• Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Estimated time spent: 10%
