Responsible for coaching, recruiting and managing the NCAA, Division III, basketball program, and serve as the Strength and Conditioning Coach . Provides support to the athletic program for game day operations, coordination of athletic facility rentals/usage, and serves as the coordinator of the student-athlete experience (NCAA initiative).
Major Duties & Responsibilities: • Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions. • Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare athletes for games, and competitive events. • Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to basketball. • Adjust coaching techniques, based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes. • Instruct individuals or groups in sports rules, game strategies, and performance principles • Evaluate athletes’ skills and review performance records to determine their fitness and potential in a particular area of athletics. • Keep records of athlete, team, and opposing team performance. • Plan and direct physical conditioning programs that will enable athletes to achieve maximum performance. • Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams to develop game strategies. • Arrange and conduct sports-related activities, such as training, skill-improvement courses, clinics, and pre-season try-outs. • Select, acquire, store, and issue equipment and other materials as necessary. • Perform activities that support the team or a specific sport, such as meeting with media representatives and appearing at fundraising events. • Monitor athletes’ use of equipment to ensure safe and proper use. • Develop and arrange competition schedules and programs, based on NCAA rules and GSAC regulations. • File scouting reports that detail player assessments, provide recommendations on athlete recruitment, and identify locations and individuals to be targeted for future recruitment efforts. • Identify and recruit potential athletes • Develop programs and initiatives to retain student athletes.
Special Projects and Responsibilities: 1. Coordinate and/or assist with special projects and committees as needed. 2. Maintain budget records. 3. Maintain, support and monitor study-hall hours 4. Position will require night and weekend responsibilities. 5. Coordinate all facility rentals for athletics. 6. Develop programs for student-athlete wellness. 7. Serve as the coordinator for fall game day operations. 8. Develop summer basketball camps for grade school and high school players.
