Due to employee retirement, the Athletics Department at the University of Southern Maine (USM) invites applications for a full-time, 10 month (mid-August to mid-June) Head Coach-Women’s Basketball, Lecturer position. The length of the initial appointment will be for one 10 month period with expected reappointment based on performance and mutual agreement as a renewable contract.
The Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for the overall organization, administration, and development of the USM women’s basketball program. He/she will perform all duties associated with effectively directing a competitive, compliant, and successful Division III intercollegiate women’s basketball program. The women’s basketball coach will provide leadership and guidance to team members and create an environment where student-athletes are challenged, supported, and can experience success while growing as individuals. He/she will direct all practice sessions, coach all games, travel with the team, develop an effective recruitment and retention program, and maintain appropriate standards for the program. The Coach will perform game and event management and other duties as assigned by the Director. As a Lecturer, he/she will teach an appropriate course(s) within the athletic coaching minor.
The Women’s Basketball Coach will attend and contribute at department meetings, support departmental and institutional initiatives, work to support student success, be involved in community service, build alumni and community relationships and outreach activities, conduct fundraising activities as approved by departmental administration and will be focused on student satisfaction, customer service, and take part in annual program review. The women’s basketball coach will represent the department, and institution at University, state, regional and national conferences and meetings.
