Description:

Bethel College has an opening for a Graduate Assistant to work with the Women’s Basketball program.  This is an ideal opportunity for an individual interested in a graduate degree in Business, Leadership, Education or Religion.

Responsibilities:

The Graduate Assistant will be expected to participate as an active member of the Athletic Department.  He/She will support and assist in fulfilling the mission of Bethel College Athletics.  The GA will report to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and coach quality student athletes
  • Providing whole person development for our student athletes through challenge and support – spiritually, academically, emotionally, athletically
  • Plan and execute the schedule of all contests and practices in compliance with Crossroads League and NAIA regulations
  • Set up and manage all facility needs on a daily basis in the Wiekamp Athletic Center, including coordination with the other programs and monitoring the facility for maintenance, cleanliness, game day set up and use
  • Supervise managers and/or student workers
  • Oversee and schedule summer camp responsibilities with both players and staff
  • Must be willing to work within a budget and coordinate travel arrangements
  • Additional work and/or a secondary role within the basketball program may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • An earned Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated ability to teach the techniques, rules and strategy of basketball
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A willingness to work evenings/weekends
  • A working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office and web applications

This is a two year paid assistantship that requires a bachelor’s degree, admission to the graduate program of the College, and collegiate playing/coaching experience.

This ten-month position (Aug – May early) requires work hours outside of the normal workweek, including evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
