General Position Summary: Serving as a key member of the women’s basketball program at St.  Ambrose University (SAU), the graduate assistant will support a variety of administrative and basketball  functions. The position is renewable for a second year by mutual agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

– Assist with administrative functions including the coordination of team meals, team travel,  gameday logistics and arrangements, expense reports and budget management, public  relations, and study hall monitoring.

– Involves some overnight and weekend trips.

– Manage practice set up and assist on the court during practice and training sessions.  – Assis the Head Coach with film review, game plan strategy, and data analysis – Assist with recruitment for Varsity and JV.

– Assist with the coordination of on-campus recruiting visits and enter recruiting information and  data.

– Assist with coordination and execution of summer camps.

– Assist with alumni engagement and events.

– Supervision of student workers/managers.

– Coach JV games and communicate player development and team progress to the Head Coach – Drive to and from JV games and other team or recruiting events.

– Abide by rules and guidelines listed in the staff handbook.

– Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Qualifications: 

– Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and acceptance into a SAU graduate program.  – Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

– Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.  – Working knowledge of the game of basketball, playing experience preferred but not required.  – Ambition to coach basketball on the collegiate level.

– Ability to work in a team-oriented environment including strong supervisory skills.
