The University seeks a Graduate Assistant to serve in the role of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. Graduate Assistant appointments are made in collaboration with the Dean of GPS and the Women’s Basketball Coach.  This position is 20+ hours per week and is a full tuition benefit extending through the duration of the student’s Master’s program. Textbooks and computers are not provided as part of the assistantship. This is a two-year commitment, and will receive a stipend each season.

 

Responsibilities for this position include: 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development of the individual players on and off the floor
  • Assist the head coach with the day to day responsibilities to manage the team
  • Help with planning and leading some practices/drills
  • Help with game preparation and statistics, including scouting opponents
  • Serve as an assistant in the recruiting student-athletes
  • Coordinate travel arrangements
  • Help with the planning, organizing, and coaching at camps and clinics
  • Coach the JV team
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Expectations for the successful candidate:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Acceptance into a MVNU Graduate program
  • Playing or coaching experience in basketball preferred
  • Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations
  • Good organizational skill and the ability to manage others
  • Ability to compose clear, professional letters, emails, and announcements
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a 15 passenger van
