Description:
Eastern Nazarene College’s Department of Athletics has an opening for a Graduate Assistant in the Women’s Basketball program. The position is part time, 25 hours per week for 10 months, starting August 1, 2022, and will report to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach & Athletic Director.

The Graduate Assistant will support the work of the Department of Athletics by providing student-centered services that foster the growth and development of ENC students in a manner consistent with the College’s Mission, Vision, and Defining Values. The GA provides primary support to the Women’s Basketball Coach and Program.

Graduate assistant compensation/benefits include Graduate Tuition, Campus Housing, Coaching Stipend.

Graduate assistants must be enrolled full-time in an Eastern Nazarene College graduate program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide assistance with on-court coaching during practices and contests.
  2. Prepare and plan practice sessions and game plans with the head coach, including online video exchange and breakdown of game films.
  3. Coordinate with the head coach on recruitment of qualified student-athletes that will contribute to the college and to the men’s basketball program.
  4. Assist with fundraising activities as requested.
  5. Monitor student-athlete academic success in collaboration with CAS and Athletic Department programs.
  6. Mentoring of student-athletes in spiritual and personal growth.
  7. Other administrative duties include travel arrangements, scheduling of contests, and equipment management.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the head coach.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborates with other Student Development departments and the broader campus community to facilitate a seamless educational experience and foster holistic student development. This will include college committee assignments.
  2. Attend team, Department of Athletics, and Student Development Division meetings when not in conflict with academic requirements.
  3. Duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience as an intercollegiate basketball player and/or coach is preferred.
  • Must have an established record of excellent mentoring relationships with students, collegial relationships with staff and faculty.  Excellent event management skills and strong organizational and administrative skills are also necessary.
  • Graduate assistants must be enrolled full-time in an Eastern Nazarene College graduate program.
  • A strong and vibrant Christian faith that connects to the mission, vision, and values of the college is required.
