Description: | SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: Responsible for all aspects of the women’s intercollegiate basketball program and the completion of faculty assignments within the College as requested. TYPICAL DUTIES: Serves Students. Teach an equated load of 7-8 hours per semester to include Theory and Technique of Basketball, Weight Training, and Basketball Varsity Sport courses and other courses as qualified. Meet general AWC faculty responsibilities including maintaining regular office hours; attending and participating in faculty meetings; designing and developing curriculum, including Open Educational Resources (OER); participating in professional development activities; providing support for associate faculty; assisting in assessment and placement of students in appropriate classes; participating in student recruitment, placement, advisement and service on college committees and establishing and maintaining relationships with the District’s educational partners. Plan, direct, and coach an intercollegiate women’s basketball program that develops student-athletes’ fullest potential while being regionally competitive and ethically run. Ensure the program complies with all rules and regulations of the NJCAA and ACCAC. Organize and conduct practices. Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule games, travel, officials and develop a game management plan for each home event. Monitor women’s basketball student-athlete academic progress and advise as necessary. Provide ongoing oversight of student conduct both on and off the court focusing on conflict resolution, providing guidance with negotiating campus processes (i.e. registration, financial aid, residence life, etc.) and assisting with the development of positive interpersonal relationships including campus integration with other students and faculty. Recruit student/athletes who can achieve academic and athletic success. In cooperation of the Director of Athletics, develop and implement a successful fundraising plan to meet departmental and individual Women’s basketball program needs. Supervise assistant coaching staff. Recruit and recommend hiring for part-time assistant coaches. Assist in developing the Women’s basketball budget and monitor expenditures including allocation of scholarships. Attend assigned athletic department, student services and division meetings that are included in defined area of responsibilities. Organize and assist with game management of other athletic events in the department as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Supports and participate in strategic initiatives and performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s degree in related field Successful basketball coaching experience consisting of successful collegiate basketball coaching experience at a high level of competition with demonstrated student-athlete success Preferred: Master’s degree in related field Five years of experience consisting of successful collegiate basketball coaching experience at a high level of competition with demonstrated student-athlete success Knowledge of coaching at community college with an understanding of the unique needs of the college student-athlete |
