Departmental Overview
|
|
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 275 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking a Director of Student-Athlete Outreach and Development who will work within the department’s Women’s Basketball team.This position is responsible for helping to meet the fundraising, branding and student-athlete advancement objectives of the Women’s Basketball program NIL goals. This position will research and develop creative revenue resources tied to NIL, Cal Women’s Basketball assets, and the community.
Under the supervision of the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Director of Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete Outreach and Development is responsible for all aspects of NIL related to women’s basketball at Cal, including working with Cal Athletics NIL Director, Cal Athletics Fund and collective entities that support Cal student-athletes.
This position will enhance the individual player and team branding opportunities for the women’s basketball team including brand education, building, marketing and promotion, social media presence and speaking engagements. Position also serves as liaison to various campus organizations.
In addition, this position is eligible for on court coaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities
|
|
• Knowledge of the NCAA interim Name, Image, Likeness policy.
• Meet with coaches and sport/team NIL liaisons to discuss NIL resources and strategy.
• Ability to lead and guide Division I student-athletes in their pursuit of a college degree.
• Demonstrated experience directing programs for student-athlete development.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Collaborate with marketing, social and digital teams to create strategies that will assist in meeting goals through the use of Cal Athletics media outlets.
• Identify and collaborate with key influencers in women’s basketball to generate content to build the Cal Women’s Basketball brand.
• Build plans to attract top talent through curated experiences that speak directly to the targeted recruit.
• Research and develop creative revenue resources tied to NIL.
• Work with student-athletes to identify hobbies and interests to add to bio pages and other outlets to encourage NIL partnerships for individuals and team.
• Liaison with INFLCR campus lead to solidify comprehensive NIL team partnerships.
• Build relations with the Berkeley and Bay Area community to create opportunistic partnerships to mutually benefit Cal Women’s Basketball and relevant partners.
• Serve as a thought leader in building the Cal Women’s Basketball reputation and brand through all Cal Athletics touchpoints, key contacts in the community and beyond.
• Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions by exercising good judgment.
• Flexibility to travel required. Evening and weekend work required.
• Help with all facets of the program as directed by the head coach.

Required Qualifications
|
|
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience.
• In depth knowledge and understanding of managing a Division I Basketball program.
• Knowledge and experience using Word, Excel, and Google Applications.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to handle a high-paced environment and work efficiently within it, including dealing with competing demands and prioritizing appropriately.
• Must be detail oriented and extremely organized.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• In depth knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations.

• Knowledge of University and Department policies.
• Master’s degree.
• On-court experience.
• Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
