Description: | The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics Department is seeking a qualified Director of Player Engagement for Women’s Basketball. This position will report directly to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. The qualified Director of Player Engagement for Women’s Basketball will work closely with the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Assistant Coaches, Chief of Staff, Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services for Olympic Sports, and other staff regarding the oversight of Player Engagement education programs (Academics, Life, and Next). The primary role will include developing individual plans for student athletes that focus on all aspects of academic responsibility. Additional responsibilities will include developing programs that focus on the areas of career planning after Women’s Basketball, financial literacy, education programs on social issues, addiction issues, and personal development.
– Academics
o Consult with student-athletes, Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services (OS) and coaches regarding academic performance and progress towards graduation. o Facilitate interaction between student-athletes and appropriate campus and academic resources. o Support student-athletes in finding ways to effectively communicate with campus faculty and administration in order to navigate potential concerns or conflicts that may arise; and o Supplement Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services (OS) by acting as another support resource for student-athletes when developing academic schedules, major exploration and planning, and maintaining progress towards graduation per university, Sun Belt, and NCAA eligibility expectations and requirements. – Engagement – Support the educational mission of the University and the professional obligation to enhance intercollegiate athletics by providing opportunities to educate students interested in this field. Qualifications: – Ability to work extended daily hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
– Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from a regionally accredited institution.
– One (1) year experience working in athletics at a college/university or comparable preferred. |
