Description:

The Director of Women’s Basketball Operations coordinates all operations of the Cornell University Women’s Basketball Team in accordance with Cornell, NCAA, and Ivy League rules. This role provides support for the women’s basketball staff and team by managing the day-to-day administrative operations of the program and working closely with the coaches, student-athletes, and colleagues in the Department of Athletics and Physical Education. The efforts of this position are done in collaboration with the Facilities Staff, the Cornell Sports Marketing staff, and Athletic Communications staff in order to support the advancement of the basketball community at Cornell. This individual assists the head coach with logistics to support the team, including but not limited to arranging team travel, organizing meals at home and on the road, planning and supporting alumni and team reunion activities, supervising social media content, planning logistics for recruiting visits, and managing equipment needs for the team. Additional responsibilities include uploading, breakdown, and sharing of team practice, scout, and game film.

 

Frequent evening and weekend work is required, as well as travel during the basketball season. This is a 10-months per year position.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree with two to four years of experience in a comparable role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication skills and in-depth operation knowledge of all associated video equipment
  • Familiarity with and the ability to operate film and computer technology to support a nationally-competitive basketball team
  • Experience with event and operations management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel primarily)
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a NCAA basketball player
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League rules and procedures, or the ability to quickly learn such rules and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Cornell University policies and procedures
  • Successful work experience at a highly-selective academic institution
