Description:

The primary responsibilities are to assist, support and encourage a successful intercollegiate women’s basketball program representing coaches and student athletes as well as assisting in the operational components of the Sports Information Department.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: 

The reporting relationship is to the Athletics Director and the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree Required.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must demonstrate a mature and expressive Christian faith commitment.
  • Needs to passionately support and articulate the University mission and vision for athletics within the context of that mission.
  • Need to be gifted in supervising and motivating others.
  • Must be creative and innovative; discerning and a thorough planner.
  • Must subscribe to the principles and lifestyle of the Wesleyan Church.

Experience:

Minimum of two years coaching experience at the college or high school level is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Assist the Head Coach to develop, manage, and successfully coach basketball, to include scheduling, recruiting, equipment management, reporting scores and statistics.
  • Operate within budget parameters, without exception. Submit all receipts and budget reports on time as directed by Director of Athletics.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all CL, NAIA, and NCCAA by-laws and regulations.
  • Ensure adherence with established institutional compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior.
  • Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletes.
  • Assist head coaches in advertising of sport camps and events.
  • Develop and implement basketball halftime events and entertainment.
  • Provide game day Sports Information coverage including student worker supervision, photography, statistics, and press releases.
  • Assist in planning and implementing daily practice sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
