West Virginia State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position. The individual will report to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

 

Responsibilities for the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach 

The successful candidate will assist the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in the administration of all aspects of the WVSU Women’s Basketball program. Their responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in pre-, in-, and post-season training, practices and games
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes
  • Assist in all areas relating to the operation of the basketball program, including day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities
  • Assist in coordination of practice and game preparation
  • Coordinate practice times at opponent’s facilities and coordinates the team travel arrangements within the department guidelines and budget
  • Motivate and inspire student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the court
  • Prepare reports
  • Evaluate players

 

Requirements for the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach 

Bachelor’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills as well as demonstrated success as an Assistant or Head Coach. A valid driver’s license, official academic transcript(s) and the successful result of a background check are mandatory.

Salary Statement

Salary will be commensurate with experience
