Description:

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia, is actively seeking candidates for its Assistant Coach of Women’s Basketball. UPIKE is an NAIA School that competes in the Mid-South Conference.

The central focus for the Assistant Coach is to provide assistance and support to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Women’s Basketball Team of the University of Pikeville by performing the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
• Recruiting student athletes
• Participate in the coach’s meetings for practice prep and game planning
• Assist with all practices and games for the women’s basketball team
• Scout opposing teams/players to game plan, watching and analyzing game film
• Assist with fundraising for the team’s budget and facilities
• Assist with budget management, supplies, and equipment through performing office work
• Assist with all aspects of basketball operations, including but not limited to travel, purchasing, including gear and equipment
• Assist in all community service planning and implementation
• Assist with all camps, including marketing, organization, and operations)
• Head Coach of JV Program
• Drive University vehicles (when necessary)
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Skill Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Minimum 3 years of coaching experience
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills required
• Must be familiar with conducting research online
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g., computer, printer, fax machine
• Must have a clean driving record

Preferred Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of recruiting practices and understanding of the Appalachian Athletic Conference and the NAIA
• Ability to collaborate with staff and provide critical thinking and consultation related to day-to-day operations, and ongoing program improvement
