University of Antelope Valley Athletic Department invites applicants for Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach. UAV Women’s Basketball competes in the California Pacific Conference and is a member of the NAIA.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at UAV reports to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. This position carries out all the duties and responsibilities incumbent upon all instructional personnel while performing the coaching function as it relates to the sport of basketball. The assistant women’s basketball coach is expected and required to encourage and promote high academic and athletic standards while building a culture of excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. The duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist Head Basketball Coach in fielding a team that will be as competitive as possible within the guidelines set by institutional policies and the rules of CALPAC/NAIA

• Assist with skills instruction and player development

• Develop and administer weight and conditioning programs

• Monitor academic progress of student athletes

• Assist with Implementing practice and game plans

• Assist in supervising all team practices, competition activities and student athletes during home and away games

• Assist in scheduling team activities including developing a competitive schedule that is spectator friendly

• Report accurate game results in a timely manner to the press and SID department

• Assist in arranging officials for sporting events

• Arrange for team travel, accommodations, and meals effectively using allotted resources

• Manage and care for athletic (basketball) equipment

Qualifications:

• The candidate also must have strong organizational skills, work ethic, willingness to have flexible hours, ability to work effectively with collegiate student athletes, and be committed to developing as a coach.
• Significant Assistant Coaching Experience at the Collegiate Level, or High School Basketball Level is required. 2-4 Year College Degree is required.
