| Description: | Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Coach assists in developing a Division I competitive Women’s Basketball program. The primary function of the Assistant Coach will be to teach student-athletes the sport of basketball. They evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes to Temple University; whose athletic skills allow the program to be highly competitive, and whose academic abilities make such student-athletes excellent candidates for a meaningful academic experience and graduation from Temple University. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach supports the Head Coach by providing leadership and integrity to the program set forth by the Head Coach which includes, but is not limited to: creating, planning, organizing, motivating, communicating and controlling aspects relative to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, assistant coaches, and related booster clubs. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is expected to conduct themselves in a manner representative of the University, the Department, and the sport both on and off the field of competition. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will execute team practices, consistent with the outline of the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and attend and participate at Departmental and Compliance Meetings as scheduled. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will coordinate team travel logistics and itinerary with Departmental personnel as assigned by the Head Coach, and also assist with scheduling of games and scrimmages; coordinate facility and sports equipment in collaboration with the appropriate equipment manager and provide recommendations for purchases of new or replacement equipment and athletic gear. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will assist with the athletic training in maintenance and rehabilitation of student-athletes as well as strength and conditioning training in collaboration with assigned strength coach.The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is expected to be knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policy governing their sport; as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits. Evidence of the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach’s knowledge of rules and policy will be in the successful completion of the annually administered NCAA Coaches Exam. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of basketball coaching experience as a collegiate student-athlete or collegiate coach. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
– Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
– Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Software including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
– Demonstrated problem solving, strong leadership, and team-building skills.
– Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
– Must be able to work a highly variable schedule including nights
– Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred:
Master’s degree and Division I coaching and recruiting experience. Experience administering Division I NCAA rules.
