Occidental College seeks qualified applicants for the part-time position of Assistant Women’s
Basketball Coach. This position assists the Head Coach in managing all phases of an NCAA,
Division III basketball program with the following specific responsibilities:
• Understand, support and embody the team’s overarching philosophy as developed by the
Head Coach
• Assist in Recruiting Efforts–generate prospects, update database, host recruits for on-
campus visits, attend recruitment events, correspond with recruits
• Assist with film breakdown, exchange, and game planning for each opponent
• Coach position groups as assigned by Head Coach using individual skill and team
development techniques
• Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference,
the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the
campus adheres, and at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards
Opportunities to supplement earnings with other departmental responsibilities may arise.

each person on campus as outlined in our Employee Handbook.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires sound knowledge of the game of basketball, ability to communicate effectively,
relatability to college student-athletes, pay close attention to detail, and organizational abilities. The candidate
should possess strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach to decision-making as well as the ability to
work autonomously, and a commitment to positive team culture. This position will include some forms
of labor that involve lifting weighted objects and getting hands and clothing dirty. Frequent
evening and weekend work is also expected. Experience in collegiate athletics, particularly in an intense
academic setting with an understanding of a residential liberal arts education will be valued in the selection
process.
