Description:

This position is responsible to assist in all phases of a competitive women’s intercollegiate basketball program in compliance with NJCAA, Mon-Dak Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. This position is one of two assistant coaches reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) is an NJCAA Division I program, and is a member of the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference.

This position is also responsible for acting as the NDSCS Athletic Sports Information Director (SID) for all six Athletic Teams on Campus.

Principal Accountabilities:

Assistant Coach Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Effectively assist in coaching a competitive basketball program in a manner which promotes sportsmanship among athletes, ensuring compliance with all NJCAA, Mon-Dak Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  2. Effectively assist in recruiting qualified student athletes to participate in the College’s athletic program and effectively promote NDSCS and our athletic programs to potential students.
  3. Ensure that players associated with the basketball program are eligible under NJCAA and Mon-Dak Conference Regulations.
  4. Effectively monitor student athlete academic progress; refer and council where appropriate and motivate athletes.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned

SID Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Ability to use or learn how to use PrestoSports, Hudl, and Marq.
  2. Ability to effectively communicate and work with Print Services and Marketing Department across campus.
  3. Willingness to learn how to produce effective and Institutionally branded social media content to positively promote NDSCS Athletics
  4. Willingness to learn how to operate PrestoSports, Hudl, and Marq in order to effectively complete all necessary SID tasks.
  5. Willingness to work with all 6 athletic teams on campus.

Qualifications:

The position is best filled by an individual with an undergraduate degree and related collegiate basketball experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed to motivate and supervise athletes and students. A thorough understanding or willingness to learn NJCAA and Mon-Dak Conference rules and regulations is critical. The ability to manage multiple tasks is essential. Knowledge of related computer applications is important. A valid driver’s license is required for travel. This position has non-standard hours.
