Newbury College invites applications for the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. The assistant coach will be responsible for assisting in all aspects associated with the NCAA Division III women’s basketball program at Newbury College. The women’s basketball program is conducted in accordance to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), and Newbury College rules, regulations, and policies. The assistant coach must demonstrate awareness of, commitment, and adherence to NCAA, Conference, and institutional standards to help instruct and develop student-athletes; assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting strategy; assist in making strategic decisions in contest situations, assist in the strength and conditioning of the student-athletes; and assist with administrative responsibilities related to the program’s daily operations, including fundraising efforts, social media management, and transportation. This position requires a flexible schedule and availability in afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. Facilities are off campus.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching

• Provide leadership and instruction to the Newbury College women’s basketball program
• Assist with coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athletes’ skill and teamwork
• Assist in preseason, in-season, and post-season training and practice planning
• Analyze team performance and conduct post game analysis to incorporate into training
• Evaluate opponents and help develop scouting reports and game strategies

Recruiting

• Attend local games and showcases to identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes
• Help monitor the progress of prospective student-athletes through the application process
• Help coordinate and organize prospective student-athletes’ on-campus visits

Program responsibilities

• Comply with College, NECC, and NCAA rules and regulations
• Perform any and all other related duties as assigned or directed by the head coach

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record in order to operate College vehicles
• Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience
• Ability to travel and work afternoons, evenings, and weekends during the traditional season
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
