Description:
The Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach position will assist the head coach in various aspects of the Women’s Basketball program including non-conference scheduling, recruiting, practice planning, on-court instruction, scouting, and new student-athlete onboarding. They will serve as a liaison to academics, meeting with our academic advisor on matters of class scheduling, attendance and eligibility. On the court, they will oversee offense or defense, shooting, skill work and an assigned position group. They will create team building initiatives and meet bi-monthly with current student-athletes. They will recruit student-athletes that fit the program’s needs as well as the university’s academic standards. In conjunction with game scheduling, they may be asked to oversee official assignment, correspondence and feedback. This individual is responsible for ensuring the Women’s Basketball program is compliant with NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations. Individual will assist with the promotion of the team as well as the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Leadership and Management:
    • Interpersonal relations with staff, student-athletes, other coaches, support staff, media, faculty, administration, supporters, and the community are vital to the success of the program.
    • They will work to create team building activities that support the vision of Omaha Women’s Basketball.
    • Anticipates needs of program, works with support staff and members of Omaha Athletics to ensure execution of responsibilities.

 

Strategy and Planning:
  • Assist with recruiting efforts, including scheduling on and off campus visits.
  • They will onboard all incoming student-athletes ensuring NCAA and University tasks are complete prior to full-time enrollment.
  • Create game and practice edits to give feedback and guide future instruction.
  • Implement personal player development for the team both on and off the court. Create evaluation system for individuals work to track progress.
  • Help administer the facets of the program, such as organizing practices, individual workouts and purchasing subscriptions and team items.

Management:
  • Instruct student athletes in the sport during practice, individual skill instruction, and film analysis under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Prepare for competition with video and statistical analysis and give feedback during competition.

Other
  • Engage the public, donors, and media in support of the Program by attending community functions representing UNO.
  • Study, know and follow all University, Summit League and NCAA policies and procedures.
