The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach assists the Head Coach in running certain aspects of the women’s basketball program at Lamar University. The position requires a commitment to compliance and academics leading to the graduation of student-athletes. The position requires active involvement in the community for fundraising purposes.

Examples of work performed:

1. Assists the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in a variety of administrative duties with other coaching duties assigned by the Head Coach.

2. Actively participates in fundraising and development of program.

3. Makes himself/herself available to the news media on appropriate occasions.

4. Assist in a successful recruiting program and will attempt to recruit the best students as well as athletes.

5. Recognizes and promotes the best interest of the student-athletes both academically and athletically – encouraging each to graduate.

6. Assists in the provision of public information which will be provided through the Media Relations Office in accordance with policies mutually agreed upon by the coaches, the Director of Athletics and Lamar University.

• Qualifications:

• • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 2 years women’s basketball college coaching preferred
  • Knowledge of and have played at the NCAA Division I Level preferred
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and college women’s basketball required

• Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations. A violation of these rules and regulations can lead to disciplinary action including termination.
