Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Coach will assist in the administration and leadership of the Johnson C Smith University’s DII Women’s Basketball program. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for providing coaching and instruction, recruiting, facilitation of player development, scouting, preparation of practice activities and other and duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.  Position supervises student workers and coaching staff (part-time and volunteers).

Qualifications:  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and one (1) year women’s basketball coaching experience at the collegiate level with demonstrated success experience, and a working knowledge of NCAA compliance are required. A master’s degree is preferred. Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success. This position requires frequent contact with staff, faculty, and students at all levels of the University. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public are also required. Must have a commitment to student athlete academic success and well-being. A valid driver’s license is preferred. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
