Supports the head coach in all aspects of the intercollegiate women’s basketball program through pre-season training, recruiting, academic progress, individual player development, coordination of all travel and the planning and preparation of all practices and contests.
Essential Functions (other non-essential duties may be assigned)
- Manage all day to day operations of the women’s basketball program.
- Plan and implement the daily training of women’s basketball players including all pre and post-season conditioning and training sessions.
- Conduct individual workouts and oversee the individual development of women’s basketball players.
- Organize and coordinate all recruitment (international and domestic) of women’s basketball players in conjunction with all NCAA, SSC and Eckerd College rules and regulations.
- Lead and provide tactical in-game suggestions and manage personnel during all women’s basketball contests.
- Conduct video sessions in preparation of all contests and create scouting reports for all opponents.
- Monitor academic progress of women’s basketball student-athletes and coordinate academic assistance and tutoring when necessary.
- Plan and supervise all team travel and meals.
- Work collaboratively with athletic communications personnel, departmental support staff and sports medicine team.
- Oversee and participate in the department-wide even management through the hiring/assigning of student workers.

Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities, and certifications needed upon entry into the position)
- Must possess a valid driver license.
- Must be able to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification.
- Ability to identify, recruit and retain competitive student-athletes.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Skills in cultivating relationships with athletes, alumni, parents and donors.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions (include travel and after-hours work requirements)
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent prolonged periods of standing or walking.
- Frequent after-hours work (early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays)
- Occasionally operates motor vehicles including golf carts
Education and Experience (minimum combined education and experience needed for position)
Bachelor’s degree; at least two (2) years of experience as an assistant basketball coach in college, high school, or club athletics, or playing experience at the college level.
