Summary:

• Assist the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in all areas of operations to include, but not limited to, player selection, teaching sports fundamentals and plays, evaluating player performance, scheduling, recruiting, and monitoring players’ academic progress
• Know and follow NJCAA and Region IX men’s basketball rules
• Primary duty location is the Torrington Campus

Essential Duties:

• Attend practices and supervise drills execution; demonstrate/teach the proper technique or procedure; make corrections as needed
• Aid Head Coach in executing program budget and scheduled travel plans
• Create/maintain relationships that promote the best interest of EWC and its men’s basketball program
• Ensure Head Coach is informed on issues and incidents relating to players, practice, games, travel, and activities/items supporting these activities
• Attend scrimmages and games within Region IX area
• Be prepared to develop/submit/teach offensive or defensive plays or schemes
• Help Head Coach monitor players’ academic performance; encourage excellence

Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or HS Equivalency Certificate
• Passion for basketball
• Desire to help young adults succeed athletically, academically, and in life
• Good oral communicator
• Ability to serve for a short duration as Acting Head Coach when needed
• One year BB player experience at Junior or Community College level desired
• One year BB coaching experience in HS or Higher Education preferred
• Current and valid state-issued Driver License
