Description:

Drake University Athletics seeks a candidate to assist the head coach of the women’s

basketball program. This includes assisting with recruitment, practice sessions,

scheduling, and operations management. A key area of responsibility will be player

development or principles and skills.. The qualified candidate will be dedicated to the

academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes, have the ability to

promote the attributes of Drake University and Bulldog Athletics, as well as adhere to

NCAA & Missouri Valley Conference rules and regulations. Prior college coaching

experience required. Finally, the successful candidate will have characteristics

consistent with the Bulldog Way culture of character, excellence and ethics that

uniquely define Drake athletics.

Duties:

30% –
Assist in recruiting and retaining talented student-athletes who represent the Drake prototype in communication with the Head Coach.

30% –
Assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans, including pre- and post-season conditioning programs. Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency.

10% –
Provide leadership for a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes and contribute to a culture of excellence and ethics.

10% –
Assist with the administrative duties, including but not limited to: NCAA and Drake University compliance processes, coordination of team travel plans, competition scheduling, business and finance paperwork, facilities reservations, fundraising, etc.

10% –
Assist with scouting and game preparation, including video and statistical reviews.

5% –
Demonstrate appropriate communication as it relates to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletics staff) and external (fans, parents, prospects, campus community, etc.)

5% –
Contribute to a positive working environment within the Department and University.

Provides other duties as assigned.

All of the duties described above require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the Pioneer Football League, and/or the Summit League, and Drake University.
