Doane University, a NAIA DII, private institution and member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference is
accepting applications for the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach (full-time, 12 month) position. This
position will assist the head women’s basketball coach in all aspects of running a successful program.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruiting, summer camp organization, practice and game
plan development, individual and small group instruction, video analysis and scouting, large group
instruction and individual meetings with both the head coach and individual student-athletes. The
assistant coach will be expected to attend practices and meetings, travel with the team for away-
competitions, and assist in areas of travel planning and program organization as assigned. Recruiting
duties may include but are not limited to: scouting and evaluation, planning and executing campus visits,
phone calls, emails, mailings, social media communication and managing the recruiting database. In
addition, the assistant coach will be expected to work alongside the head coach and our student-athletes to
ensure success in the classroom, as well as on the court.
Qualifications/Education/Skills:
-Bachelor’s degree required.
-Ability to uphold the ideals of the program; namely in the program’s core values of
communication (in all capacities), integrity, love & respect, discipline and competitive
excellence.
-Competitive playing and/or coaching experience at the college level or equivalent.
-Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment, be attentive to details, lead and work
independently as well as within a team environment, maintain confidentiality, be loyal, show
initiative, and manage projects while keeping an organized workflow.
-Must be diligent and effective in terms of recruitment of student-athletes; this includes willing to
travel in and out of state, in addition to the job description expressed above.
