Centre College invites qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. This position requires compliance with all NCAA, SAA, and Centre College rules and regulations and to be mindful of the College’s core values of diversity and inclusion.

With groundbreaking in July 2021, Centre Athletics is constructing the $65 million Initiative for Wellness and Athletics Excellence (IWAE) project.  The transformational facility will feature a new indoor fieldhouse, with a 200-meter track plus indoor turf, a 50-meter natatorium, a new baseball facility, plus a new stadium for football, lacrosse, and track and field.  Included in this strategic initiative is over 6,000 square feet of additional strength and conditioning space.

 

 

Job Skills / Requirements

Under supervision of the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, provide assistance in the leadership of coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties for a highly competitive Division III women’s basketball program.  Individual reports to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach as well as to the Deputy AD, Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations, or designee with a secondary duty as an event manager.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in organizing, preparing and conducting practices, training, and competition; including uploading of film and developing scouting materials.
  • Monitor and run all social media platforms related to the program along with being able to generate graphics for the program and for recruitment purposes;
  • Recruit student-athletes in accordance with all Centre College, Southern Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations;
  • Assist in directing all aspects of the program; including travel plans and meals;
  • Assist with the holistic development of women’s basketball student-athletes;
  • Represent the program and the College to students, parents, alumni, and the general public;
  • Assist in managing the daily operations and administration facets of the women’s basketball program – including but not limited too – facility preparation;
  • Actively participate in department-wide fundraising initiatives;
  • Assist in all duties as assigned by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics;
  • As a secondary duty, serve as Event Manager for assigned sports;

  • Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with previous collegiate experience as a player or a coach required; previous collegiate coaching experience preferred.  CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications will be required once hired.   This position is responsible for driving vehicles, specifically 15-passenger vans, therefore a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record is required.

 

Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of the sport of basketball and its playing rules; ability to foster a team environment; demonstrated coaching skills in sport of basketball; knowledge of travel, lodging, planning, and scheduling; a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy of athletics, sufficient knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules and regulations, and a demonstrated ability to successfully recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes; the ability, and desire, to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department.
